Putting off the dentist or a new pair of glasses because of the cost?
Dental and vision plans are simple, affordable, and usually don’t require a medical exam to qualify. We’ll help you find a plan that covers your regular cleanings, checkups, and eyewear — often for less than you’d expect. On Medicare? You’re eligible too — Original Medicare doesn’t cover dental or vision, so this is coverage worth adding either way.

What a Vision Plan Typically Covers
Simpler than dental — most plans follow the same basic structure.
One comprehensive exam per year, usually for a small copay ($0–$25).
An allowance toward frames or lenses — commonly $100–$200 — once every 12 to 24 months.
Most plans let you apply your frame allowance toward contacts instead, plus a separate fitting exam benefit.
No Health Questions on Most Plans
Unlike Medicare Supplement or life insurance, most dental and vision plans are guaranteed issue — no medical exam, no health questionnaire. Coverage just starts (sometimes after a short waiting period on major dental work). If you’re also exploring Medicare Supplement or life insurance with us, this is one of the simplest, fastest plans to add.
On Medicare? This Coverage Is for You Too
Original Medicare doesn’t cover routine dental or vision care — and neither does a Medicare Supplement plan on its own. We can bundle an affordable dental and vision plan alongside your Medicare Supplement, so your full coverage picture doesn’t have a gap in it.
Dental & Vision, Quickly Explained
Does Medicare cover dental or vision?
Generally no — Original Medicare doesn’t cover routine dental or vision care, with a few narrow exceptions (like some diabetic eye care), and a Medicare Supplement plan doesn’t add that coverage either. That’s exactly why we recommend bundling a standalone dental/vision plan alongside your Medicare Supplement. See our Medicare Resource Center for more detail.
Can I get dental or vision coverage without a full health plan?
Yes — these are entirely standalone products. You don’t need an ACA major medical plan, Medicare, or any other coverage to enroll in a dental or vision plan on its own.
Why do some dental plans make me wait before covering major work?
Waiting periods (commonly 6–12 months for crowns, bridges, or dentures) exist to keep premiums affordable for everyone — they prevent people from buying a plan only when they already need expensive work done. DHMO and discount plans typically skip this waiting period entirely.
Can I cover my whole family on one plan?
Yes, most dental and vision plans offer family coverage, and each covered member gets their own annual exam and allowance benefits.
Will a dental plan cover cosmetic work like whitening or veneers?
Almost never. Dental plans are built around preventive, basic, and major restorative care — cosmetic procedures are typically excluded on every plan type.
